BARBIE DOLL

Money for 1099 workers

Barbie Doll, a powerful poem written by Marge Piercy in 1971 is about the unrealistic beauty that society has been imposing for years on women.

The poem is about a girl who was criticized from birth until she died. She did not meet the unrealistic standards of beauty  imposed by  society. When she hit puberty she was not accepted by society due to her big nose and fat legs.

She was an intelligent, healthy woman but she was always criticized because she did not meet the beauty standards imposed by society. She decided to cut her nose and her legs to be accepted.

After she died they made her look pretty with an artificial nose and legs, everybody in her funeral found her pretty even the people who criticized her all her life.

Les define beauty, it is understood to be a quality that pleases the senses or mind, and can be found in both the physical world and the abstract.

Beauty can be objective, based on certain proportions or harmonies, or subjective, based on personal preferences and cultural background. It can also be fleeting, as in a sunset, or enduring, as in a work of art.
